Cynthia Shaw

Singer/Pianist/Composer

Cynthia Shaw, pianist, singer, and actor in the New York area. She holds a master’s degree in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Dr. Solomon Mikowsky and Phillip Evans. She spent a large part of her career accompanying singers and singing in professional choruses including the NY Choral Artists with the NY Philharmonic and the American Symphony Orchestra with performances at Avery Fisher Hall (David Geffen Hall) and Carnegie Hall. She toured and recorded with The Gregg Smith Singers and recorded "The A Capella Singer” with the Douglas Frank Chamber Chorale. She continues to free-lance as a professional choral singer and classical piano teacher.
She was Musical Director for over thirty regional and off-Broadway shows and musical directed the New York Christmas Revels for over 15 years. She has written and performed an award-winning solo show, Velvet Determination, about her coming to New York as a young, classical pianist, winning many awards including “Best Festival Debut” (United Solo) and “Best Solo Show” (Pittsburgh Fringe) and made it’s international month long debut of performances at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She made her NYC cabaret debut at Don’t Tell Mama in 2022 and continues to create and sing in cabaret shows.
