Cynthia Shaw has been involved in the NY music scene for many years. She has a B.M. in Piano Performance from the University of Denver and a M.M. in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
She has musical directed over 30 musicals off-Broadway as well as in regional theaters in New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, Indiana and Pennsylvania. She has played for off-Broadway auditions and worked at Stagedoor Manor as a musical director.
As part of the production team of New York Christmas Revels for fifteen years, she musical directed productions of Scandinavian, Irish, Russian, Eastern European, American South and Victorian Revels (to name a few) at Symphony Space. She also appeared on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion at New York City's Town Hall and on National Public Radio.
Cynthia has played for many voice lessons and accompanied vocal and choral recitals. She had the honor of being part of the Blossom Music Festival at Kent State.
She is a regular English country and contra dance pianist at CD*NY, LITMA and in New Jersey and was on staff at Pinewoods Early Music and American Weeks teaching singing, instrumental ensemble and theatre.
She has played for synagogue services, choir rehearsals, high holy day services and concerts at Town & Village Synagogue, New York's Temple Israel, Park Avenue Synagogue and Sha'arey Shalom in Springfield, NJ. She was a concert accompanist for The New Jersey Cantor's Ensemble for over 15 years.
